The UK Government has announced a major plan towards the digitization of the UK border and immigration system. As of April 2025, all visitors to the UK who do not need a visa for short visit up to six months, except British and Irish citizens, will need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), a digital permission to travel to the UK.

The introduction of the UK ETA is a significant change for many travelers, who previously did not need to interact with the Home Office prior to travelling.

To get informed as per the UK ETA procedure and requirements, the British Government will host a relevant online event on Tuesday, 4 March 2025. It is aimed at all those engaged in businesses that support travel into the UK in all its forms and will provide information about the scheme, who it applies to, when it will come into effect and how it is planned to be communicated internationally.

More information and registration reference can be found here.
